Detailed description:Lebanese culture has magnificent, rich influences and our food is the greatest way to experience it. You don’t have to be a native to recreate authentic Lebanese home-cooked food that’s full of flavour. All you need is enthusiasm, genuine high quality produce + the helping (virtual) hand of me!… a welcoming foodie turned chef.
Guests will see that tradition is reflected in our whole relationship with food. From where we source & buy produce, the ingredients that add classic character to dishes, to how we present a meal. Enjoy some express history trivia as you cook, such as insight into ancient trade routes that caused mixed - influences between ME nations.
Menus are always varied, featuring a meat and vegetarian version of each course. Make and taste authentic plates such as Lebanon's national dish Kibbeh, mezze and main plates like Muhammara, Labneh, Tabbouleh, Fatteh and Kafta. Dessert always calls for something sweet or creamy such as Kunāfah, Layali lubnan and Muhalabieh.
My name is Aisha. Originally from Beirut, Lebanon. My husband, our three children and I emigrated to Manchester as a family eight years ago when my husband landed a job here.
I absolutely love life in the UK, home now to us all. We find the mix of our Lebanese and UK cultures beautiful, and are proud to have both. But keeping Lebanese culture alive in my home is crucial to the children growing up with their heritage. It also always helps us all with the regular nostalgia for our native homeland.
Food is a way we do this everyday. Like in any culture, nothing tastes as good as homemade comfort cooking or family cook book recipes. I have so many personal memories in dishes, like the Lebanese household-must Kibbeh (usually sautéed pine nuts and spicy minced meat) or the rose & pistachio Muhalabieh (milk rice pudding) we had at our our wedding!
I decided to start sharing recipes through online classes after so much time at home cooking during the pandemic. I’m so happy and humbled by how popular the cookalongs have been and look forward hope to satisfying appetites for as long as I can!
