Detailed description:

This is an exclusive chance to work as a runner in the award winning London Bollywood Studios, immersed in the atmosphere and workings of the sets used to film some of the industry’s most iconic movies and dramas.

Before you start your duties for the day, you will be partnered with a dedicated buddy from the team who will take you on a tour around the studios for you to get your whereabouts, as well as an exclusive and intimate look at the studio’s newest addition: a custom, state of the art virtual reality studio.

Throughout the day, your various tasks (listed below) will show you first-hand the process of taking a script from the page and onto the screen; brining India's most popular form of entertainment alive. You might also be lucky enough to steal a selfie with one of the Bollywood stars actors or directors in the studio on any given day!

  • Collecting and delivering equipment and scripts.
  • Assisting the production crew in operating equipment.
  • Driving vehicles around sets or between locations (this will be confirmed in advance if you have a valid UK drivers license).
  • Keeping sets clean and tidy.
  • Distributing messages and running ad-hoc errands.
  • Looking after studio team and guests (including making tea,   coffee and refreshments).

About the host

Hi there! I am Joe. I was born in Mumbai, India and moved to England with my parents when I was two. I grew up in Cambridge but moved to London when I was twenty-one for a film internship and now work as part of the studio production crew, responsible for organising the tours / activities in the studios.

I was motivated to pursue a career within film after the passing of my Grandfather. He is still well known in the film industry as a Bollywood director. He spent most of his life filming on location and in the studios across India. When I used to visit he would always make time to take me with him, and so growing up I was surrounded by the workings of Bollywood (even if sadly I didn’t begin to appreciate the impact of his work until after he passed).

This inspired me to follow in his footsteps and become a part of this world myself. I am fascinated everyday with this amazing industry. It is far beyond ‘entertainment’ and is an integral part day to day Indian culture and a powerhouse in global film culture.
